Flushing is a common side effect of niacin when taken in large doses. While NIALOR® is designed to minimize flushing, users may initially experience temporary red, hot and itchy skin which typically disappears within an hour. To reduce the risk of this side effect, avoid alcohol at time of administration.
Other niacin-related side effects include dry skin, runny nose, upset stomach, nausea, and diarrhea. More serious potential side-effects include reduced glucose tolerance, increased uric acid, liver toxicity, and arrhythmia. If you experience any of these or other side-effects on a regular basis, immediately stop taking NIALOR® and consult your physician.
Use NIALOR® only under a physician’s supervision if you have one or more of the following conditions: known allergies, diabetes, peptic ulcer disease, gout, glaucoma, disorders of the liver, kidneys or gallbladder, pregnancy or lactation, cardiovascular disease, have recently suffered a heart attack, are taking cholesterol-lowering medications or are under a physician’s supervision for any other serious condition

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
1. FLUSHING
What you may experience: You may feel like you have a severe sunburn, with needles pricking your skin. The sensation is temporary and will subside within 1-2 hours.
What does this mean: Flushing is harmless but temporarily uncomfortable. Your capillaries are expanding and blood flow is increasing in the areas that you experience flushing. Flushing is actually beneficial as it signals improving blood circulation.
How to minimize or avoid flushing: Start by taking 1/2 tablet after a meal. You may also want to take aspirin or ibuprofen 30 minutes before. Increase dosage to 1 full tablet after a meal.
What you may experience: You may experience heartburn or upset stomach, particularly if you frequently experience these symptoms with other food.
What does this mean: One of the active ingredients is Niacin, which is an acid, and can aggravate sensitive digestive systems.
How to minimize or avoid upset stomach: Take antacid prior to consuming NIALOR®
